New universal Injector for ati and nvidia, and multiple ati cards enabler.

This new kext, is natit and aty_init integrated into one, also added nvidia support and, most important for nvidia users – video ram size reading support.

The kext will get video ram size right from video card, for nvidia geforce8 series and higher.

It also supports reading bios right from ati cards, no more inserting bin_image for running multiple cards.

Also should work for MacPro ATI/Nvidia pc cards users (for example radeon 4890).

Status of card – beta, it works fine but needs some testing.

Since it’s no more just ati, it needs better name, wanna suggest some ?

P.S. not recomended to use with nvidia GF 5/6/7

installer – Link to pkg was udpated for better gt200 cards handling

I as said elsewhere, it did not work for me on a Mac Pro 1.1 with a 4870 1GB Sapphire. It’s not just due to the PC card, because I have used the Mac several times with only this card in it (display just remained blank). The card works fine when it is flashed with the EFI+BIOS.
ATY_Init apparently just cause the card’s fan to run at full blast, and probably prevented the Mac from booting OS X, but I can’t tell that for sure. At least, it did not work as it was intended to.

Not sure what happened and if someone else has tested this extension on a Mac Pro.

But thanks anyway. Hopefully, it will work.

    Sorry for the double post!

    Hello Netkas,
Yesterday I became a new Radeon 4890 OC from MSI. I’ve tested before a 4890 from Sapphire. This Card from MSI works fine also with QE, CI and and all resolutions with your driver.
But I have a problem, same as before: The mouse, keyboard and scrollwheel did’nt work perfectly. Every 2 seconds stops the mousepointer for a little moment. In background the mouse moves and jump after this pause to the new position.
Have you any information about this malfunction?
What can I do? I test 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 with a fresh install and only the necessary kexts for my Gigabyte Board PA35-DS3P.
My old Radeon 3870 works fine without this mouse problem.
I installed the default natit and the QE-Exotic Card Patch. I try also your new universal enabler. No chance to get the card working without the mouse stutter.
Is there any kext disturb the natit?
Must I manually edit any info.plist or hexedit anyrhing.
Nice if anyone give me any tip.
Or give it another way to get the 4890 working? DSDT Patching? How it works?

  55. Nameless One
    May 29th, 2009 | 1:29 am

When I tried this package with my Sapphire Vapor-X 2GB HD4870, It would not resume from sleep. Capslock wouldn’t toggle and my monitor (19″ CRT) wasn’t syncing so it seemed to have locked up, haven’t tried dual monitor with this. With the Hackintosh Natit.kext from the “Some thoughts about 4870″ article my computer will resume from sleep without locking up although I have to use the VGA connector instead of the DVI-I one because the monitor will not sync on the latter after sleep. Using dual monitors (both CRT) they both display everything the same including the mouse cursor, and System Profiler says that the monitor plugged into the VGA socket isn’t there (haven’t tried dual monitor and sleep together). With either there is the minor cosmetic issue of System Profiler saying the card has -2048MB of video RAM. With the monitor plugged into the VGA socket Mac OS X cannot tell what it is or what it’s capabilities are and list it as VGA Monitor with all resolutions and refresh rates shown even ones it cannot handle.

Hi. I’ve tried the Natit (the one in Big radeonhd guide for 10.5.7 though I haven’t updated to 10.5.6 in my 2nd reinstall of iPC) and this package. I reinstalled iPC 10.5.6. I’m in 10.5.6 still stuck with no 3D acceleration at 1024 x 768. My card is a Palit 4870 1GB

The profiler says ATI Radeon HD 4870 but it’s displaying 256MB instead of 1GB (no CI, QE, etc.)

What could be the solution for this? I need to have this fixed as soon as I can. I’ve not been using OS X for a month now.

    Hello all,

I hope you can help me on this!? I have an Asus MSA-VM HDMI mainboard and a Sapphire Radeon HD2600XT (Device-ID 9588 I guess?). As suggested at wiki.osx86project.org I installed “XxX X86 Final Rev 1“ (now I am running Rev 2). As suggested I did NOT select any graphics driver included in the distribution.
    Now my problem:
I tried different kext-packages from netkas for my graphics card (I made sure that the device ID is included in ATIRadeonX2000.kext/Contents/info.plist) but always there is the same strange behavior: when I start OSX with the “-x” parameter the systems boots with correct graphic function (even Quartz GL is enabled). If I try to boot normal (= no start paramter) the screen turns blue (no mouse) before the OSX desktop appears. In this state there is nothing more I can do!
Any suggestions which might lead to solve this problem? Any ideas are welcome!

Hi. Using Palit 4870 1GB (dual BIOS, good for experiments) running 10.5.7 (not sure about 10.5.6). It conflicts with ATINDRV.kext (Enabler for Nvidia and Multiple cards also conflicts with this kext). This Natit does see the GPU as 4870 but with 256MB. If there’s a workaround for this Natit or the Enabler one (preferred since it has an installer) to work or another kext for this GPU, please post. Booting in normal mode but with no 3D acceleration, stuck at 1024 resolution. Will try to flash it with the vendor as Apple but it’ll still remain as an x86 GPu (have tried changing the vendor to XFX before). Thanks in advance.

    “////Prolly NVCAP failure, ur 9500gt has non-standart (2 dvi) ports configuration ?”
it’s a physX dvi/vga/svideo, but i guess you’re right, i extracted the nvcap and built an efi string, but it still failed, i finally got it working with a generic string from osx tools (vga/dvi), and i still need a second monitor in the vga port or i can’t adjust the monitor gamma :-D

This .pkg is simply fantastic, in a few seconds I’ve got a working sapphire 4870 on vanilla 10.5.7 with dual monitor (VGA + HDMI), excellent work. Everything ok except that with my HDMI TV cable plugged in (via DVI to HDMI adapter) I have a tedious mouse lag that disappear as soon I remove the HDMI cable. Do you have any suggestion on how to fix that issue? Maybe I have only to be patient and wait for the next release.

    Many thanks

    June 9th, 2009 | 11:28 pm

Regarding my previous post about mouse lag (just above) I think it would be better to be more specific, here my configuration:

    - Sapphire 4870 512 MB (with something like an heat pipe for thermal dissipation)
    - DVI -> VGA adapter on port 1 (near the mobo)
    - DVI -> HDMI on port 2

Cannot swap the two ports because VGA monitor only works on port 1 (tried and got a black screen on VGA monitor when entering leopard desktop).
Maybe with a direct DVI monitor the mouse lag disappear (cannot test this, i have no dvi monitor), what’s your opinion?

Apart the mouse lag everithing else is perfect and performances are awesome.

Thanks again for your work Netkas.

    (see comments 86 and 87)
I just performed a test with a DVI monitor, no more mouse lag!
I can confirm that (in my situation) the mouse lag is present in the following configuration:

    Vanilla 10.5.7 +
    Sapphire 4870 515 MB +
DVI to VGA adapter on port 1 +
DVI to HDMI adapter on port 2

That’s all, hope this helps in improving your great work.

Sorry, what I said in the previous post was not true.
The mouse lag issue ALWAYS arise when I have an HDMI device plugged into the card as secondary display but it’s not turned on.
If I turn on the hdmi device mouse movements are smooth. If I turn off the second display the mouse lags.
    Any suggestions/ideas?

I’ve got an HD4870 1g… and I’m getting this annoying mouse jumping/lag issue too… its making it impossible to use photoshop with any precision. I didn’t even notice it was there until today.

The only way i can get my card to work properly is to install the exotic cards pkg.. then the patched framebuffers pkg.
every other combination of drivers just gives me a black screen, or more commonly a scrambled black and white noise screen.

This package gives me the later issue…. if I delete all my aty_ kexts and natit.. then install this package… i get scrambled screen.

Please help, this erroneous mouse movement is giving me epilepsy!

Hi guys, I’m new to Mac OS.

I’m trying to install my ATI Radeon X1600 0×71c3 on Leopard 10.5.8.

Didn’t find any howtos to install this injector.

All I have to do is install this pkg and reboot? Or is there something else?

All I have installed in my system is ATI HD provided by iATKOS v7.

Tried other solutions and got blank screen. Probably did something wrong.

Please, help me do this correctly.

    Thanks.

I installed this package and nothing happened.

After that, I installed Natit_ATIauto and got no output from my DVI.

Is Natit_Auto incompatible with your package? Should I erase some kexts?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys,

is there any Natit or other injector available for integrated GMA950 / 27A2?

I’m running SL 10.6.2 and I’m experiencing serious mouse lags. Found some Natit.kext where mouse lags got a bit better but didn’t disappear completely.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Chris.

Is it as simple as moving ATY_Init.kext out of the System > Library > Extensions folder if I don’t want to use it, and putting it back in if I do?

It eventually stops and I think the last line says “go to exit” but I am not sure because it is gone in a flash. Then the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I am a newbie and do not know how to add kexts to my install. i would like very specific instructions for how to add kexts and or scripts in terminal to my installation file.

I have 2 ATI Sapphire HD 4870’s on a P5Q3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3. The 1st card closes to the Processor is working perfectly 100% support. The second card is not, when I boot to desktop I get both monitors connected to the first card on and working at proper resolutions full support. The second card is not detected in System Profiler and its fan is blasting at full speed.

Does anyone know a solution to get both card working so I can connect to all 4 inputs? That is my main objective.

My Snow Leopard install is from retail disk and the HD 4870s are working with just the GraphicsEnabler=yes on in com.apple.Boot.plist
