11G15 10.7.5 beta update

GPU drivers are exactly same version as in MBP2012’s update pkg.

At least you can use 10.7.5 beta update to get drivers installed the Apple’s way.

So this means we get gtx6xx and 69×0 support for macpro out of the box? As well as usb3 if we have z77+ivy bridge cpu?

Hey can you check to see if we have any new OpenGL APIS in this release? I’d really love to see a GLSL shader language for OpenGL 3.0 so that we can have real support.

    Oatman, huh?
You do realize lion supports everything for 3.0 3.1 and 3.2 right? Unless all you look at is compatability profile for 3.0 which is 22/23 (everything but shading language). The compatability profile is just that though, compatability profile. If you want 3.2 specification you need to use core GL profile on Lion+. Shading language from 3.0 3.1 and 3.2 are all supported by core profile.

As for this update, no it doesn’t add any new apis though, nor did DP4 of 10.8, still same 3.2 support, which is ridiculous considering 3.2 is 2009-2010 tech and 4.2 is what we SHOULD be getting in 10.8. But that’s apple for you, 2-3 years behind on gaming at all times while innovating mobile market.

Can we use a decent nVidia GTX in an old Mac Pro 1.1 these days?
Since it seems we have to wait quite some while for the next MP it would be nice to at least add a decent GTX 5/6 serie to speed up Blender Cycles renderings.
    Is that possible?

    Hi Netkas,

Would a zipped /System/Library/Extensions folder from a 2012 MacBook Pro (Retina Display) be of any use to you?

Mac OS X 10.7.4, with all MBP 2012-specific updates applied…

10.7.5 doesn’t require ATY_Init by the look of things.
The nvidia driver version is 7.28.1 295.10.15f03
I’m seeing a 30% or so performance improvement over previous versions in LuxMark.
I’m also not seeing the blocking artefacts that were there in previous nvidia driver releases.

Does the beta contains the required, upgraded frameworks (opengl etc.) for the new drivers, too? So should HD 4000 fully works with acceleration?

Works well in a Mac Pro 3,1. Ive installed a Gainward GTX 670 2Gb and it just works out of the box. Downloaded the 10.7.5 update through torrents. About 2Gb for the Combo update but well worth it if I can boot both in Windows and Mac OSX. Thanks NETKAS!!!!

I have been used Mountain Lion DP4 with Nvidia GTX 680 without any issues.
But with 10.7.5 (11G15) same machine hangs at boot… near NVDAGK100HAL load and registered.
    Anyone with same scenary?
