Lets look at 4670 in iMacs.

Radeonhd 4670 in Imacs is mobility card, its clock speed is 680 for core, 790 (1580) for memory.

Desktop’s 4670 card have 750/800, core clock of desktop 4650 – 600.

So performance should be between desktop’s 4650 and 4670.

Here is table with clocks in all states for this card.

Hi Netkas. It’s a shame they’re selling open source bootloaders, kexts and such to fight them for the second time without respecting to even acknowledge where it’s really coming from. Not to worry there’s always justice. You may want to get in touch with the ones they fighting.

By the way, supposing 10.6 already supports your card, for example the 4870 1GB, yet it still doesn’t have deep sleep unless you put it on VGA which will crash when you reboot it. Is deep sleep dependent on the port where it’s plugged. How come VGA an older technology is the only one that works with deep sleep compared to DVI?

Also, do you have a fix for the ALC883 sound chip 5.1? I’d be nice if every VGA kext, sound kext, dsdt, plist and all of that was in one file which is boot (even boot0 and boot1h). This’ll make it more compatible for everything.

By the way, could you give me a link to how to make a kext driver, how to edit the dsdt and how to make the bootloader stuff (boot, boot0, boot1h, initrd, oxlinux, boot).

Alvin, get new USB Sound Card, ALC sounds like shit ;))

  3. October 26th, 2009 | 5:43 pm

ALC does sound like shit if you are using HDA in leopard or snow.
i use AzaliaAudio it also will work in snow if you are in 32 bit.
    For the (883)

There are ways to patch the DSDT to make it work. but i have tried many times with no success.

I just bought nvidia GTS 250 from micro center for 114.00 you cant beat that with a stick and it works flawlessly on every port.

i still believe nvidia is where its at.
( for the time being )

I always choose my hardware for OSX not the other way around. i never have issues
the 2 boards i use is the g31 gigabyte and the p45 gigabyte, the p45 was 79 dollars at micro center last week, great price.

They just changed the ethernet chip on the 49 dollar g31 gigabyte board from realtec to something else— that something else i couldn’t get working so i am not buying that board any more.

Does this mean support for the Mobility 4650 as well, since the 4650 Mobility and 4670 Mobility are both M96?

I was under the impression that only 48xx series and 58xx series had the physical hardware to support Apples OpenCL? Why are Apple using 46xx??? It is supposed to be an upgrade from the GeForce 9400M but it cant actually use OpenCL.

    Can anyone comment

    Kind regards

irontony, 46xx also supports OpenCL. This hasn’t made it to all of Apple’s sites yet, but it’s on the US site:

requires one of the following graphics cards or graphics processors:

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, Quadro FX 4800, Quadro FX5600
ATI Radeon HD 4670, ATI Radeon HD 4850, Radeon HD 4870

any chance of a ROM dump of the mobility, or an evoenabler patch. I’m on a 4650 mobility which is booting blank. hoping a different rom might do the trick?

Netkas, I am attempting to use two ATI cards in my system. I am having trouble finding good advice, or any reference material to guide me at all… Hoping you might be willing to help- possibly I could be be a tester of some sort- anything that might help you and make it worth your time.
    My system: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with i7 920 & 12Gb OCZ gold (1600)- plus a HIS ATI 4670 Ice-Q Turbo 512Mb DDR3 (dual-DVI) [9490], and a HIS 4650 512Mb DDR2 (HDMI, VGA & DVI) [9498]. (also got two acer 23″ LCDs (H233H) w/HDMI, VGA & DVI and a 19″ acer LCD- VGA only).
Both cards are working, no QE/CI on 4650 but full resolution changes- it seems I can only get 1 unique signal out of each card so I am unable to use the 19″ (I can get ‘mirror’ output from the 4670 sometimes, some days will not work!- but it ‘recognize’ there are two attached.
The are both working with motmot FB. The 4650 is actually giving me beautiful, pure HDMI out! but only with one of the monitors plugged into the DVI-not just a dongle.

  12. January 28th, 2010 | 4:04 pm

The 4670 only gives me signal with VGA dongle from 2nd port- sometimes only WITH at least a dongle or monitor plugged into 1st port- with or without giving signal- sometimes only works WITHOUT anything plugged into 1st port.
You said FB is shrike… I patched the ati.c file to assign shrike to both- NOTHING worked no matter what I did- KP or video corruption or NO SIGNAL. I heard the shrike is supposed to provide DVI output, and motmot is for VGA. So I made another patch to assign shrike only to the 4670 (which would be REALLY nice to have for my when I use Windows). But I still only get video corruption on that display- 4650 is unaffected.
Do you have any advice? Either of what I might try, or where I might go to find people who may know something, or a website that may give me some insight?
Do you know if anyone has successfully gotten dual-monitor support from any of the 46xx series cards using x86-OSX?
Anything you may be able to tell me/share with me would be VERY appreciated. I know you are very busy so I tried to search around before I ask you something that has been adequately discussed & resolved elsewhere…
