Hey i agree that GMA 950 being like the only desktop onboard Adaptor that works is kinda strange. they are not having the best of luck with the the nvidia ion.

who wants to buy a graphics card anyways, games in mac suck.
What is up with the x1350 or x3100 or 4500, or what ever pos graphics comes in the packaged with the intel i3.

is this a apple not including drivers thing? it took some real balls to remove the atom support from .2 , BTW – if you are having issues with snow being shitty, boot in safe mode, do a permission repair, uncheck file sharing re boot and then recheck if you need it. LIttle trucks to make snow work right. sounds weird but its what makes it work. right.

Tried this boot file and unfortunately, it gives black screen for my EAH4650. I’ve tried all ports and port combinations (dual connection at one monitor at the same time) and still nogo.

It’s ok though since 10.5 PC_EFI or rc4 (mod by asere 1.1.7) works but it only in VGA.

I was hoping that DVI or HDMI>DVI will work. I guess I’ll be waiting for the next release or X2000 (10.6.3) kext.

Thanks netkas for your great work!

[...] The widely used PC-EFI boot-loader has been updated today to version 10.6 by netkas himself. In case anybody needs a reminder, PC-EFI is a boot-loader which allows vanilla Mac OS X kernel to be run on not Apple hardware. This update adds support for desktop Radeon 4300/4500/4600 graphics cards via the GraphicsEnabler feature. It also adds a system-id fix which resolves the issue of your keyboard settings being forgotten, and finally, a fix for Lynnfield Intel CPUs has been added. As said by netkas, “So it’s ready for snow leopard finally.” You can download the latest update for PC-EFI here. [...]

Thanks for all the hard work Netkas! Does PC EFI V 10.6 support multiple Radeon Cards? I have 4 displays (3x DVI + 1x VGA) connected with dual 7300GTs and a hacked NVDarwin injector for Snow Leopard to support it. One of the Cards is dead now, so I only have one DVI or one VGA, but no dual monitor support. :-(

Dual GIGABYTE GV-R455D3-512I would be a solution for my budget, but only if GraphicsEnabler will detect multiple 4550 cards. Do you have any recommendations for multiple card solutions for under $100 USD?

Netkas, you do amazing work and your contribution to the OS X community is legendary, thank you!

I was very excited to see this posting as I have an almost vanilla new system with a P55 chipset, Intel Core i5 and ATI 4670 graphics. Your ATI “beta booter” completely recognized my 4670 graphics card and allowed me to use it without modification to any kernel extensions but the system ran at 1.5x normal speed, a known issue with the P55 board.

With your new PC EFI V 10.6, I end up with a black screen but I can tell by the hard disk activity that the system is loading.

Interestingly enough, my ATI X1600 Pro works beautifully by simply adding the device id to the ATI1600Controller kext and the ATIRadeonX1000 kext.

And yes, the device id of my card is already included in the relevant kernel extensions.

Once again, thank you for all you do!

So we install as with previous versions ? After the last Chameleon, we just change the boot file on root ?

What do you think Which ones are mandatory for this card ?
    Thx again !

What are the fixes for Lynnfield? I have a Core i7 860, installed this booter and everything works great.

Also, where can I disable the “Quad Core Intel Xeon” identifier so that it displays the Core i7 860 information? These processors are in the new 27″ iMacs, so I believe it would be recognized out of the box. Right?

    Thanks.

I’m very happy, at least i can use my fan-less card, but it would be great to have the full potential…

THANK YOU! I now get DVI output from my HIS ATI HD 4670 Ice-Q Turbo(dual-DVI out)- no dual-display support though. But I lost ALL output from my HIS ATI HD 4650 (HDMI, DVI & VGA out)- the system says that the monitor is connected and I can move the mouse there but I get no signal…

I downloaded the sources and changed the framebuffer for the 4650 from “Peregrine” back to “Motmot” which fixed the problem :)

The system mixes up which monitor is which- even though they are connected to different gfx cards and utilize different framebuffers! Strange!!

    Hi Netkas!

Could you please fix the following problems I reported earlier:

    1. libsaio/hfs.c: line 440: (long)SWAP_BE64 – should be: (uint64_t)SWAP_BE64
(this fixes hibernation issues with more than 3Gb of memory)

    2. libsaio/nvidia.c: line 307: add: { 0×10DE087D, “NVIDIA ION 9400M” },
(this is for ION graphics card)

    3. libsaio/platform.c: line 45: should be: cpuid_reg[2]=0; (not =1;) – see above: “set ECX register to 0″, not 1. remove second call to do_cpuid() – it is no longer necessary after you fix ECX value.

    Thank you.

I have no clue how to install EFI. I input the graphics enable string without it and I got options for resolutions etc but still no qe/ci support.
I downloaded PC EFI but have no clue how to install it/if it will actually help.
Any input (*maybe a guide to installing EFI and getting QE running) would be greatly appreciated!

Also, VRAM? The virtual machine says it has 128VRAM, but programs aren’t detecting it.

    Great guide!!

The 4350 is recognized and thx for that Netkas, but it is without QE/CI support on a Gigabyte EX58 and i7 920.
Would you have a tip for me to try to work this out ?
I searched and tried many many things without success yet. but since i know it is possible to get it, i’m still trying.
What do you think i should search ? Just give me a hint, a direction (even in the code, i know C langage), and i’ll carry on

Due to the lack of Quartz Extreme on the Radeon HD 3450, I would like to become a tester if you start to make a kext for it. I own a Club3D HD 3450 256MB, my monitor is plugged trought DVI.

Have a problem when installing Snow Leopard with PC EFI 10.6.

    My system is the following:
    MSI X58 Pro-E – 1366 chipset
    I7-920
    6GB of Ram
    Sapphire ATI Radeon 4850 1024Mb

When i try to install it seems to install well, but after the install succes message and my first boot after a while i get a blue screen with mouse pointer, and then nothing happens anymore. What can cause this blue screen, and what can i do about it? As it seems strange to me, as the install ran succesful.

Hi Netkas! Thanks a lot for your injector my Dell Studio 1557 will soon have is ATI 4570 Mobility functional i think!

It inject properly the card, the only problem is that the LCD panel is not recognized. Did you think it is possible to make it work ? Currently i connect by VNC so i can hack it further but i have not too much ideas on what i can do to activate the LCD (which is a full hd, 1920×1080).

Here is that i see in system profiler (it is a french system):

Could someone help me out and answer 2 questions?

I’m a former apple user who never cared about UUIDs and such things, so I don’t really know what it’s good for. For Snow Leopard it was recommended to install PlatformUUID.kext and enter the UUID of the system partition in smbios.plist and the Info.plist within PlatformUUID.kext.
Is it correct that the kext and the entry in smbios.plist are obsolete now?

Some people seem to prefer the old method – why?
The disadvantage of the old method is that if you have different Snow Leopards on different partitions the UUID entry can be correct for only one of them (if I’m not wrong). But what is the disadvantage of the “new auto generated” UUID? Is there a problem with certain applications maybe?

Hey, nice work on PC EFI.

I’m having some problems. Trying hard to get it work on my GeForce6100SM-M (nForce 430 chipset, MCP61, Sempron 3000+).

I think I had an earlier version of PC-EFI show the kernel and kext’s load before rebooting (argh). So I thought I’d try the latest.

It doesn’t even get that far. I thought I’d grab the sources, add some verbose()’s and track down where it died. It makes it through loading boot.plist, partition scan.

    However, in scanHardware() -> scan_platform() -> calculate_freq(), the line:

    msr = rdmsr64(K8_FIDVID_STATUS);

Seems to cause the reboot. (A verbose() before it shows up, one after doesn’t, and she reboots.)

    Any ideas?

    -d

    March 2nd, 2010 | 4:56 pm

Further to my K8_FIDVID_STATUS problem, some googling turned up a bug fix/patch for a similar problem in the “coreboot” project:

Hi netKas I was following the guide from Taranfx to install Snow Leopard under VMWARE, at the point where I ‘ve to install the boot loader for improving graphics and have acceleration, the file on mediafire doens’t appear to be a valid one so I downloaded the latest Chameleon and followed the Readme in this path /doc/Readme and so:

I run this commands under Terminal:

    sudo fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 (Why rdisk0, should be this rdisk0s2 ??)
    sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2
    sudo cp boot /

All commands seem to have executed nicely.

Now when I reset the computer (having removed smc indication under .vmx file to avoid Kernel Panics.
I do get a “Operative System not found” error, which is easy to bypass by mounting darwin_snow.iso.

Anyway I modified the boot.plist but didn’t get any result or any hardware acceleration (I’ve a Geforce Nvidia 9600 GT). Am I missing something ?

1)Is com.apple.Boot.plist the right file to edit or Boot.plist is another file for hardware acceleration?
2)What’s the difference between the latest Chameleon RC and PC EFI 10.6 ?
    3) Do I have to modify other files, please state the right paths to those.
    3) How do I get this hardware Acceleration ?

I’m new to UNIX and MAC world so I want to learn about it and test it.

I post a few images of what I’ve done.

    The boot.plist
    http://i50.tinypic.com/200zp0w.jpg

The result in system profiler for Graphics Card:
    http://i46.tinypic.com/r94ub7.jpg

Profiler list the graphics card ad before, so I think there is no acceleration.
I’ve Vmware Tools Running pretty well and audio works.
But graphics acceleration seems to be missing.

Thanks in advance any help is welcome.
    Mayorc.

    Hi netkas

I am unable to use GraphicsEnabler with my GeForce 7900 GT (actually GTO, but same ID). When booting I am presented with a screen that flashes 2 shades of blue.

I am now trying your ATY_Init injector, and it detects the card, and I now get my screens native resolution, but there seems to be no acceleration.

I would be interested in trying to debug this… How can I find the issue? AFAICT the system logs say little of interest – the NVDANV40HAL kext loads and registers, but I see no errors. An equivalent to Xorg.0.log would be useful here :-p

I’ve found a sleepenabler.kext that works on every version of snow leopard (10.6.3 INCLUDED). This sleepenabler.kext is made by several people through a google code project, so ALL credit goes to them , I’m only here to bring you the good news xD.

I have a Ga-EX58-UD5 motherboard and have already tested this sleepenabler myself and it works! Don’t forget to turn on the option “Start up automatically after a power failure” in the Energy Saver preference pane!

    Link: http://code.google.com/p/xnu-sleep-enabler/
On the right side you will see a sleepenabler for every version of snow leopard or a “universal” sleepenabler that works on any version. I have already tried the universal sleepenabler.

    Enjoy sleep and enjoy 10.6.3!

So, I hope that somebody could make a simple guide: How to make Ati Radeon Hd 46XX work on Hackintosh. Please, this is getting hopeless. My specs: Sapphire mobo 790gx/sb750, Amd 64×2 6000+, Sapphire 4670 1gb gddr3, 6gb ddr2/800mhz ram, 670W psu. And greetings from Finland!

    netkas,
thanks for the source code, i added teateam kernel patching function and now i am able to boot vanilla kernel in Mini 311 (with Atom processor).

now i have a stupid question, the generated boot file lost the GUI, do you know where should I look in order to enable it?

    thx

I’m one of the people who are now seeing their UUID changed to something “random”.

Well, looking at the source code it turns out that the UUID is not random but it’s actually hardcoded. The value is in line 78 in libsaio/fake_efi.c and it’s set in line 373 of the same file. There’s the following comment just above it:

// unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35 fix

So, it seems that the system-id fix contributed by IntVar doesn’t always work as intended. At least, there are circumstances in which it overrides a perfectly good UUID derived from the system hardware with the hard-coded one that’s now part of PC EFI.

Now, all we need to figure out is how we can make that test better. How do we know when we have to insert a hard-coded UUID or whether the system actually found a good one based on its hardware?

Looks like your file server is down. I’ve tried downloading the bootloader using my ISP’s DNS and OpenDNS’s DNS, and I’m getting a 404 error after a while with both.

I am desesperatly trying to download this bootloader, but all links on the net point to this article. :( Some mirror would be good, I would gladly provide one on my hosting.
