PC EFI V7.4

Main improvement; plugable videocards support

what does it mean ?

let’s open /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

after installing v.74 add one properties to that file

for example, find this entry

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

and add after it

<key>device-properties</key>

<string>73120….32000000</string>
73120….32000000 – is a long string which need for bootloader to make your gfx work without natit.

At this moment this string is ready for  radeon 2600XT/pro

strings for other cards will be added later, to this post.

Updated, strings for 8800GTS/GTX is here http://tinyurl.com/2cucaj

if u don’t add device-properties key to Boot.plsit file then pc_efi will just ignore it.

u need just copypast string from file to space bettween <string> and </string>.

p.s. current limit for com.apple.Boot.plist file size is 16384 bytes

p.p.s. gpt/mbr pc_efi is planning for future, so will be done soonly.

    Hi,
can I use EFI 7.4 with MBR partition table, or it works only with GUID?

can this be applied to earlier versions of efi? (eg v5) or does this require v7.4?

    nvidia 7300LE pls.
is there any advantage over Natit, NVInject? working tv out for example or 1680×1050 bootsplash

Hey, this is nice, but instead of only inject the device-properties for the video card, can you make a more generic function to be able to inject also things like azalia audio?
I know, only the video is 12K but still might be helpful

    Thanks, great work

This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for with having an separate file from the boot file so that people can add their own EFI data. Excellent progress. Thanks very much Netkas and team.

Netkas – if I could give you the correct details to make an X1800XT work, would you have a go at it?

If so, what information do you need?

Thanks for your hard work on this project!

    Regards,
    – Tim.

Great work Netkas! I’ve been running v5.1 for a month now. I’m installing v8 on a different laptop that has a HD2600 Mobility. Should your ‘devices-properties’ GFX method work with this card? When I tried, I got a blue screen on my external monitor, then a system freeze.
