QE_CI exotic cards patch for 10.6.4
Due to me having not enough time and Apple/amd removing r600 (hd2900) support from kext it took longer than usualy.
But it is, should work now.
dont forget to uncheck ati4800controller option if you use framebuffer from previous osx versions.
FIXED 64-bit mode, it was typo, sry.
btw, versions for 10.6.2/10.6.3, just in case, are here
Hi netkas!
Thanks for your newer patch, it works great.
I think there is a mistake in ATI4800Controller.kext and also in ATIRadeonX2000.kext, there is a device id written as 0x944c10002, but I think it should be 0x944c1002, so I have rewritten the kext files.
Thanks again.
Thanks netkas it finally worked on my 64bit kernel 🙂
привет,неткас!
обновился до 10.6.4 накатил твой экзотик патч – по dvi супер,а по displayport-у – не хочет(черный экран) причем
винтом шуршит – загрузка идет. как-бы displayport прикрутить ?
displayport заработал только с ATI4800Controller.kext
ATIFramebuffer.kext ATISupport.kext от 10.6.2 Спасибо!
Thx for the new patch, netkas!
I am new, so I can only described in lamens terms.
I d/l the patch that fixed 64bit problem and KP problem is solved. However, when loading the desktop, it stuck at the blue background. No menu bar or dock is shown, nor the wall paper. The blue background cycle through two different color tones, as if the display card is trying to kick into different display mode. Any idea what I might have done wrong?
I now have to fallback to using the 10.6.3 kexts workaround i found somewhere on the web, and everything seems ok for now.
still need use evoenabler?
Hello, I installed the patch but QE on my Sapphire New Edition 4890 Hynix memory is not working. (checked via Zeus). I see all my extensions as 1.6.16. Thoughts?
Sapphire 4890 Vapor-x 1gb workin smooth.. thnx netkas..
just downloaded and installed 10.6.4 combo patch then installed excotic 10.6.4 patch and reboot..
Has anybody managed to get Sapphire 4870×2 working on connection other than DVI-DVI.
I have no DVI connection on my monitor.. If so could you Please post or link as to how you
managed to do this. any help greatly appreciated.. Thanks
I was having trouble getting my HD4830 working with 10.6.4 kexts until I read a comment above mentioning it’s device ID was wrong in netkas patch, which was indeed the problem.
In both ATI4800Controller and ATIRadeonX2000 kexts, the device ID has an extra 0 (it’s 0x944c100002 instead of 0x944c1002). You need to edit the info.plist on both of them for QE/CI to work.
If possible, it’d be nice if there was a notice (or preferably, a fixed .pkg) about this proble in the original post.
Nevertheless, thanks for you great work netkas.
Lots of people need to fix permissions after they install packages.., & rebuild your extensions.mkext if you have one………
Backup Files too…..
Use “pfix” in single user mode…..

Netkas, You Rock!
@Netkas: could you make AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext work with intel 4500 graphics card?
Powercolor 4890 1GB fully working (64 bit) with unchecked ati4800controller
Hi netkas,
great job, it works for my sapphire 4890 1gb on dvi.
however i have 3 questions :
1 – how to enable displayport ? when booting via DP the monitor goes in standby mode and SL just doesn’t load
2 – how to decrease the fan power ? ! it runs really loud (on windows the CCC would do the trick)
3 – this brings me to the 3rd question : Is there any way to have the Catalyst Control Center working under SL ? I would need to fix a few things inside. I saw there are a kind of official ati/mac drivers for the 4870, could we get these to work for the 4890 ?
Thanks for any input and keep up the good work
does this work with 4670 512m ddr3? thx
ATI RADEON 4350 WORKS LIKE A CHARM, THANX NETKAS
I must say that I was wrong before.
I said 4870×2 can’t run well in sl 10.6.4.
Today, I made my 10.6.4 sl run with ATY_Init and boot in 32 bit mode.
Finally, It’s work! Good job netkas!
(Well, I’m sorry about the 14th incorrect reply, I don’t know why I can’t boot at that moment…)
Two Questions:
1. Patched a 4870 here. Anyway to go in and verify everything was patched properly? IE Check Driver Version.
2. Also do we still need EVOenabler.kext to be ran with this to enable things like Dual Monitors / HDMI w audio?
Thanks Netkas!
I tested it on my Saphire 4870×2 with x64 Kernel on 10.6.4. It detects my video card like a ATI 4890 and QE/CI are activated, but OpenGL is very very slow, about 4-5 fps in “OpenGL Extensions Viewer”, and I can’t activate OpenGL in Photoshop. What’s wrong?
Thanks for all!
Hi I got a question
If I got KP after installing this, what should I do?
Remove the flashed 4890 and replace back original X1900XT and reboot? How do I remove the installed patch then?
sapphire vapor-x 4890 1gb. KP in 64bits but works in 32bits.
what is the workaround?
any know if work on 4350
I have a problem with 4870. I have horizontal lines in safari, my mouse is transparent in the dock, and the ventilator of the card accelerates 2 seconds every 30 seconds
Anybody know if this still works with today’s Snow Leopard Graphics update?
kp backtrace from atiradeonx2000.kext in 10.6.4
i removed the installed kexts by going into my windows side and i can get back in.
any fixes for this?
whew got it to work.
i was getting kp kernal panics from the x2000 kext. what i ended up doing was reinstalling, updating to 10.6.3. i installed the 10.6.3 that is linked to from the zeus application. this worked along with evoenabler. from there i updated to 10.6.4, ran the exotic 10.6.4, and kept evoenabler in my /extra/extensions/. i’m not sure what was causing my issues in the beginning but now it seems to be working perfect.
Hi all, I have a little problem with my new Dell u2711 monitor. For some reason, I am unable to achieve 2560*1440 resolution. I am running radeon 4870 with a dual link dvi cable. It works fine in windows but not on SL 10.6.4. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Does anyone know if this works with 10.6.5 10H562?? My system is not very stable and I don’t want to add something that might add some fuel to the fire :).
Thanks,
a.
Netkas you’re a true ninja legend ;] Thanks for this!!!
i’m looking for it for so long
thanks
