9.2.0 speedstep kernel and new smbios for pc_efi
U can find new universal speedstep kernel in #10.5 topic in irc.osx86.hu irc network.
Thx apple for releasing sources.
also, here u can get new smbios for pc_efi, it adds more memory informatio to profiler
(on 10.5.2), AppleSMBios-27, http://tinyurl.com/2y94gr
if that one doesn’t work for u, try iGuru’s smbios :

Just recently installed iatkos leopard and updated to 10.5.2 ok how do I install this. Noob question I know!
Thanks ! 🙂
Download it and google for kext helper
Intel 945G mobo w/ GMA950 and Pentuim D 950 Working Super Fast. First upgraded pc_efi to boot_v8.
Did 10.5.2 upgrade, then new 9.2 TOH kernel, then Leopard 1.0 Graphics Update (dmg installed fine as is). I use unmodified AppleSMBios.
GeekBench 64bit score (228) 8% faster than old kernel.
Graphic Update has made the cursor and UI very snappy!
Netkas; Thank you, Thank you!!
Hi netkas!
With this Applesmbios my memory report on system profiler fails,
10.5.2 (vanilla)efi strigs for Audio-Grafx-Network(efi 8)
GA-P35-DS4
C2D E6850
4 Gb Ram 800 (Geil)

@netkas, System Profiler is giving me this error on Memory section:
There was an error while gathering this information.
anyone know if this new smbios adresses some of the application crashes the previous one caused?
like logmein ,mozy ,and others?
kext helper only seems to install kext files!!!
This is a kernel. Can I just do
sudo cp ~/mach_92 /mach_kernel
and repair permissions?
Do I need the kalyway 10.5.2 combo update before doing this or can I use this kernel with 10.5.1?
i have too
“@netkas, System Profiler is giving me this error on Memory section:
There was an error while gathering this information.”
netkas will this work on nforce mobo?
it has fix for nforce mobos.
Can I used this new kernel (10.5.2) with a 10.5.1 install (without installing the Kalyway 10.5.2 combo) ?
System Profiler – Memory
There was an error while gathering this information.
i’m on new speedstep kernel
hi, this applesmbios doesn’t work for me..
i’ve a HP DV6580el laptop pc…
it has an error gathering information of my pc, so in system profiler it shows that was an error…
i sure this issue will fixed…
bye!
All of you with “System Profiler – Memory
There was an error while gathering this information.”
You need System Profiler patch, search for that pkg on yours leo custom dvd, like XxX distro(i dunno if i can post here link with that patch) and replace only files for System Profiler.
Then all is ok, still no support for DDR3 memorry 🙁
Thanks again netkas, i think i need to make a thank you boot… 😀
thanks, but if i put my old applesmbios system profiler works well…!
it’s not a problem of system profiler…
sorry, that help was for memory…
What System profiler pacth? The Colonel patch?
XyZ, are you talking about the Colonel’s System Profiler Patch? His blog comes up about it in Google, but unfortunately, the link to the file is dead. I think it’s on TPB though. I’m not on my hack right now, but if someone could check it out and report back that would be awesome.
I dunno who made it…but is working!
I just take it from XxX dvd, then extract with Pacifist only System Profiler files and replace that files.
can someone pls upload this System Profiler patch to MediaFire.com?
This AppleSMBIOS.kext doen’t work on my hackintosh, instead this I use the previous AppleSMBIOS from Tiger 10.4.10, and works very good.
Regards
Thanks Netkas.. WORKS FINE ON NFOCE MOBO, is there a software to monitor the clock speed?
Thanks netkas, but something about this smbios seems to break logmein and mozy from working. These apps work with the 10.5.2 original. This also happened in 10.5.1. Maybe it’s the serial or something that these apps dont like.
@kingtut
It seems that your Leopard graphics update was successful.
I also has a mobo with GMA950 (Asrock 945gz)
However, the graphics update change the display resolution to 1024×768.
I cannot change the resolution now. Did I miss something?
9.2.0 speedstep kernel make a panic by using VMWare Fusion build 72241 (Guest WinXP). 🙁
Kalyway 10.5.1 + efi8 + 10.5.2up
Ditto on the no info on memory in my system profiler. I’m sure glad it displays as a Mac Pro though! 😀
the speed kernel 9.2 load at the beginning but I can’t get the login …
🙁
[…] out netkas site for the new kernel. As well as some fixes for us PC_EFI folks. If you have problems getting the new […]
Hmm, With Vmware fusion latest, kernel panic at start of VM.
Kalyway 10.5.1 + efi8 + 10.5.2up
Works good with Vanilla kernel.
Sleep not working anymore.
Hi.. Thanks for all of your hard works~
I just have few questions…
I currently have kalyway 10.5.1 with speedstep 9.1 kernel. When I update my system to 10.5.2 using Kalyway’s update package, ACPICPUThrottle.kext always fails to load, which means no more speedstep.app.
The kext file wouldn’t load, even when I use the speedstep 9.2 kernel with the new SMBIOS file.
Is there anyway to get the speedstep work properly with 10.5.2 ? I really need speedstep. I just cannot stand the fan noise when my system is running at its full speed.
Thanks~
SMBIOS and the kernel work on AMD great! thnx a lot!
loginwindow still crashes when trying to do About This Mac on my Celeron. 🙁
9.2 Speedstep kernal seems to work fine.
But the new AppleSMBIOS 1.0.13, doesnt show memory right and also crashes the DVD player somehow.
The new AppleSMBIOS is working alright, except that my processor in about this mac show “3GHz Unknown”. Why can’t it reads my C2D E8400?
Hello Mr. Netkas,
Which kext is responsible for the cpu fan?
After the 10.5.2 update, the cpu fan works continously without making pauses. Do you know what can I do?
I have a core2duo 2,0ghz, 965 intel mobo hackbook
@edmond …also
GMA950 to set resolution use terminal text editor pico to modify com.apple.Boot.plist adding and as in example.
sudo pico /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
Kernel Flags
“Graphics Mode”=”1280x1024x32@75”
Repair disk permissions.
@edmond
The syntax came out wrong in the GMA950 post.
See http://tinyurl.com/2wdp9a post #14
@kingtut
Thanks for your information.
It worked with 1280×1024.
However if I set it to 1440×900, the resolution changed to 1024×768.
It seems there’s still problem with the driver at higher resolution.
I think I need to wait for a better driver.
Thanks anyway.
iGuru AppleSMBIOS work 🙂
hi! what’s the speedstep kernel improve over the vanilla kernel?
Does this Speedstep kernel “Universal” include No-hpet? I’m using your no-hpet kernel on 10.5.1 about to update with Kalaway’s 10.5.2 update, but am reluctant to update the kernel until I know it supports my processor (P4, SSE3, EM64T). Any Suggestions for the update? or Should I leave well-enough alone? I’ve been running Leopard without flaw for sometime. Thanks, Camxso
@kbg
this kernel include nforce fix, so it’s nohpet …
i think try a new kernel does not hurt,
you even need to replace the existing kernel,
but just put it in root and type the kernel name when boot
To sad that shutdown is still not working .. it is a problem from quite a long time
10.5.2 speedstep works fine on SSE2. However I get a kernel panic when booting my laptop on battery, last line of panic says something like:
“BSD Process name corresponding to current thread: fsck”
laptop works find on A/C power.
Netkas anyidea?
Mark.
No wake after sleep with this kernel.
Vanilla 9.2 kernel wakes my system without any problems, but with this speedstep kernel it hangs.
great work again, netkas!
I tried this kernel and it works, even with 10.5.0.
The only thing bad is that after the update I lost laptop ps2 keyboard and mouse. I’m using the first SMBIOS kext. Is there a difference that may help btw the 2 kexts above?
Thanks
After install the kernel and kext, my monitor won’t wake up after sleep.
