Does your driver or Natit for ATI Radeon HD 3870 will also work
for the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2? I’d like to know before making a decision of buying this card. Thanks in advance.

    Netkas,

Great work, by the way! Lots of eager “customers” == frustration for you, I assume!

Do the working Radeon HD cards still run at full-speed? I wasn’t sure if the new Natit would fix that problem with PowerPlay not working, etc.

    Thanks!

Netkas, you said HD2900xt is supported, but i am reading others people experience with 9c31 + new natit and they are having problems.

anyone confirm 10.5.2 + new natit and HD2900xt work?

Great work netkas! Hope your having fun too!

I have an Apple HD2600 XT using just the ATI Triakis driver kext itself. I created an EFI string based on some info from the Natit kext that I no longer use and the LAN UUID “built-in” EFI string on my D975XBX2 with the beloved Q6600.

And of course the the dsmos kext. Vanilla SMBIOS, Kernel, etc work for everything but speedstep, running vanilla means more to me then some of these features.

I have created a “dummy” AHCI kext that has my intel ICH7-R in the Info.plist referencing back to the apple driver. A great install without having to modify ANY actual files that will be replaced in updates.

If you do the updates 10.5.2 from another instance of Mac OS there are no additional scripts created for completion on reboot as the files can all be modified without interference.

QUESTION: I have tried many things to create an EFI string for the ICH7-R without success. To my knowledge no one have created strings for AHCI before. It should be possible but where should I start.

no internal display for 2600 too it seems. 2900 users use old natit with franklin framebuffer.

I have a Radeon HD3870 X2 that I made an EFI string for and it works for the framebuffer. I had to use gfxutil to give me the location of the card in the ioregistry since it has an additional pci-to-pci bridge chip on it that adds another level in the location string. Once I did this, I get full resolution, rotation, etc. but if I try to add the device ID to ATIRadeonX2000.kext, it freezes up at the gui load. I believe this is more a problem with the ATIRadeonX2000.kext and not the framebuffer that is causing the issue. BTW, I’m using 10.5.2 with gfx update and the latest triakis on irc.

Hey netkas thanks for the update and thanks for getting these new ATI cards working so fast.

Like Plympton, I just wanted to know if you’ve had any luck with the PowerPlay and getting the 3870 to not run hot a full speed all the time.

    Thanks in advance.

    Basketcase,
I posted on the Radeon thread that I thought PowerPlay was working now, but I might have spoken too soon. I started up 2 Quicktime files playing full-screen (1600×1200) to stress test, and got a GPU Kernel Panic – not too long after I started the run (minutes) I had played in Lightroom for hours beforehand, so I think it could be a clock/overclock thing. The heatsink was roasting hot this morning. I’ll post the log in the Netkas forum here:

I am using hd2900pro with leopard for almost a year. Everything is fine all resolutions, qe-ci everything is working fine. The only problem is my gfx card temprature. It goes mad even if I am not gaming. On the macintosh desktop screen too the fan goes mad. Been using my gfx card with the fan sound and high tempreature for too long. I am afraid of blowing up my GFX card and also get sick of the sound of the fan. Is there any solution for this. I tried to get assisted over irc and the answer I got is the netkas driver set the GFX card to work on 3D mode even if you are on 2D platform like the desktop screen of Leopard. also told me about something frankliyn etc. If there is any resolution I’d realy be thankfull.

helo… i have mobility HD 2400 XT, i know everyone say that it wont work on internal monitor because of conector tipe wich is LVCD. my question is, than how if removed all ati*.kext my pc boot´s normal, with no kext loaded. ask this because dont understand… my pc is acer tm 5720 end vga is vendor:0x94c8, device id: 0x1002, revision id 0x0000, DevicePath = PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)). any answer would be fine… or a solution involving firmware changes or enything… sory for mi english, 10x

////when no kext loaded macosx uses vesa linear framebuffer. it’s like writing to memory area, no special drivers needed

No, we cant forget Mobility HD2400XT Users!!! We are lot of Users without solution… any news on bios modding to make it work? As i read on some forums, someone have mod the bios from the laptop where the Graphic Bios inside, and then it works, at least internal monitor. Its that real? Hope that can be true…
