Wow, it seems Mac for the first time will support newest cards at release date, not after a year from being sold at PC market :) Very very nice, maybe it will always be same :)

given ryhm√§ which Apple product “corrected” versions of mac osx, better is to wait until they have finished all their progress, hoping that version 11 will be the one

    LOL

Why ATIRadeonX3000.kext? Will that actually be amd fusion APU rather than GPU?

Holy moly! Could this possibly mean that Apple will get the next gen ATI cards less than 10 months or so after the release?

Thank you Valve for getting Steam on the Mac and kicking Apple in the nuts for being so damned lazy on video hardware and performance!

Any word on if new hardware support has been added with Nvidia’s 256.00.15a07 release? Are we starting to see early support for the 4xx series on the Mac Pro or are all of the driver updates just adding ATI product support with refinement and bug fixes for Nvidia & Intel IGP?

This is great news for a lot of people! :)

This time it will be not be wrong to bet on AMD GPUs and maybe the direction Apple is heading towards. I am holding my breath on support for AMD CPUs also.

So..anyone tried the shiny new 6850/6870 with 10.6.5 beta yet?

I’ve got a 6870 and tried the 10.6.5 beta but can’t get the card recognised. I suspect I am missing something though. I edited the ati5000controller.kext to add in the device id however just get a white screen when attempting to boot (gets passed the apple logo but hangs at a blank white screen before reaching the desktop).

    Any clues?
