“I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.”
    – Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

Apples Fourth Quarter Report for 2010:
Apple sold 3.89 million Macs during the quarter, a 27 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.05 million iPods during the quarter, representing an 11 percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company also sold 4.19 million iPads during the quarter.

Hackintosh’s are bad for Apple like software piracy is bad for Microsoft. Without us there would be no personal computer. Steve and Bill have always known this. The reality is they both used/stole other peoples ideas, hardware and software to become what they are today. Kettle calls pot black. The victor writes the history books. GO HACKS!

Pretty funny, but a lot of wishful thinking. Hackintoshes are awesome, but only for a small segment of the market that can figure them out. Most folks can barely figure out how to reinstall a supported OS, much less an unsupported one.

    Great Vid.

Nope. Apple could make things difficult for hackintoshers. (Every point release changing encryption routines, etc) But really, why? Its really a market that they have to do NOTHING to acquire.

Hackintoshers love OSX. That’s why we do it. Most of us shell out the 29 bucks for the OS and it costs Apple 0 in support. Most of us own several Apple devices (including Macs) anyway. Most of us will get more. They design an OS to work with a given range of hardware (theirs) the community makes it work (90% or better compatibility) with other stuff. Hows that for outsourcing? Awesome deal, right if you’re Apple?

Heck, they rely on folks like Netkas to do the handwork on backward compatibility. What better business model is there than free labor. Genius!

Yep, hackintosh is good for Apple. And i’d bet it acutally boosts overall sales? (How many of you hackintoshers have recommended something other than PC to your friends and family..?
