QE/CI radeons patch for 10.6.6 (Updated)

There was rumors about 10.6.6 ATIRadeonX2000.kext doesn’t require binary patching, but these turned out to be negative.

So here it is, the patch for 10.6.6, support was added for anything in range of 0x9440-0x9462, but I don’t promise every card in that range will work :P.

Revision 2 released, should fix 4890 in 32-bit mode.

First of all: Thanks netkas for all the hard work,

I’m afraid I’m still out of luck as far as QE/QI, I’ve got full res from my diamond 4890 pumping displayport to a 24″ apple LED CD, both 64 and 32bit, but neither have QE/QI. p55 system 10.6.6,

Would greatly appreciate some ideas on possible solutions/irc/theads to look through, Thanks

    Hello !
I installed SL 10.6.3 on my PC by using iATKOS S3v2 and I updated today in 10.6.6 with apple official combo update + Multibeast for USB rollback.
After reboot, everything seemed to work fine except my graphic card, a HD4850.
I tried to install netkas patch for 10.6.6 but now, when it boots, I’m stuck on this message : Ethernet [AppleYukon2]: Link up on en0, 100-Megabit, Full-duplex, Symetric flow-control, Debug [796d,6f48,0de1,0200,45e1,4000]

    Does anybody could help me?

    Config : P5B Premium, E8400, HD4850

so what you are saying that is not plainly available is that this patch is good for (pretty much) all ATI Cards between ATI RADEON 4700 and ATI RADEON 4800,

I just bought a HIS Radeon 5770 and i am trying to get that bastard to work, and i feel like i am in the god dam boxing ring. * DING * i am tryin to get as real of a mac as i can.
and i think maybe ATI Graphics Cards are the only way.

i am gonna monkey around with this stupid crap for about another 4 hours, after that i am throwing all this junk in a box, and getting a 27″ imac this is way over complicated, it rapes the idea of Apple/MAC” it just works ” right up the god dam ass.

Well, i can’t make it work with my Sapphire 4830…
Always wants some unavailable resolution @ some weird Hz, i have a Samsung SyncMaster 19″ TFT… so i don’t know whats the problem. Really don’t know what’s missing.
Is 75Hz really necessary by default??
I think this kext woulda work for me if it’d get 60Hz by default…

Just throwing in my 2 cents: I’ve tried the 10.6.6 update several times (on a cloned drive for easy recovery) and have been unable to achieve acceleration on my Sapphire (new edition) 4890 card. I’m using the rev. 2 patch for 10.6.6, and I get display, but no acceleration. This is in an original MacPro 1,1. Acceleration worked properly (after ages of work) under 10.6.4. I skipped 10.6.5 to avoid driver issues, but would really like to get 10.6.6 working. Any tips? I’m installing the update, installing the new patch, repairing permissions each step of the way. Thanks!

    @dc

Could you please let us know exactly which version of the OS you got your frameworks and kexts from? I do not seem to have the exact version numbers you specify.

I’ve been running off of a 10.6.4 patch for a long time and decided to upgrade to 10.6.6 and my flashed ATI Radeon 4870 barely works now. I’ve tried installing the 10.6.6 pkg from this site and I don’t get duel monitors, or QE-CI? Am I missing something?

I’ve tried repairing permissions and then reinstalling, and it still isn’t doing the trick.

    Any ideas?

I have QE and CL working out of the box. I don’t need this patch.
Also, I checked the differences between the files provided by Apple and the two kexts Netkas provides, and I only found 2 differences: mine provide a valid Code certificate from Apple, Netkas doesn’t have any Code signing provided with his kexts… and some files have been delete from the Content folder… nothing else

So where is the patch? oO Is this just about deleting files into both kexts?

    Hi!

    1st try: GraphicsEnabler=Yes (by Chameleon RC5 def.)
Installed to a brand new osx installation (10.6.6i Hazard)
so no orphaned/useless kexts, and got glitched or black screen after reboot…
2nd try after sudo revert: Modified both kexts with the correct ID of my VGA in Smultron, then added them with kext helper. Then rebuilt them with kext util, reboot, but same result… revert again. Kext util again.
3rd try: GraphicsEnabler=No, installed the pkg then reboot, got kernel panic.
4th try: I saw here that somebody changed some kexts with a couple of older one, well i found them after 2hrs seeking in the net, added with helper, rebuild, reboot and got THIS:

    http://rair.atw.hu/qeci1.jpg

    http://rair.atw.hu/qeci2.jpg

This is a really weird glitched screen… I got this screen for like 30 secs, then my screen turned black until restart. But hey… at least it worked for a “while”… lol. 🙂

    So forget QE/CI with this config… :

    cpu: Intel Core2Duo E7400 2,8GHz
    mbd: ASUS P5QD Turbo (P45)
vga: Sapphire Radeon HD4830 (512MB) vga, hdmi, dvi…

Dear netkas! I spent like 5 hours to make this thing work but i failed. What did i do wrong?
Can you, or even anybody can help me with this??
So annoying to read “its working” texts from other people who having the same stuff like me…

Thanks in advance, sorry for my bad english, hope you understood me.. 🙂 And please don’t remove my post!

After much trying im still stuck with no q/e with my 4890 (dev id : 9460). system boots then gives a light blue screen and occasionally flashes a lighter colour. i have tried editing the 4800 kexts(this worked for 10.6.3), added dev id etc. this gives a black screen with artefacts.

    Any ideas anyone?

Ps: im stuck running 32bit as im using amd

    10.6.6
    ati 4890
    amd phenom x4
    8gb ram

Seems no one gave a damn on us.. :]
I reinstalled 10.6.6 then followed the steps, but got same results as before, looks like its a weird glitch related to widescreen or idk, tried on 3 different monitors, including a crt either, but keep failing.

netkas, i know you’re way too busy with Lion, but please do something! I’ll bake you a cake! 😀

Is there a patch for the Radeon 4890 yet qe_ci_exotic patch 10.6.6 ?

    I am using qe_ci_exotic patch 10.6.6.pkg

But I am fearful of installing Mac Osx 10.6.7 until a card patch is released.

    Thanks

  24. March 24th, 2011 | 6:15 am

Without thinking, stupidly agreed to the prompt to upgrade to 10.6.7. Needs an updated patch it would appear. *So* appreciate the work you’ve done on these patches previously. Is it worth waiting for one for 10.6.7, or is it likely to be a while so am I likely to be safer to roll back at this stage?

Visiontek 4870X2 Works – have QE/QI even though system doesn’t report it (games work, Front Row/Dashboard has effects) DVI port 2 gives 2560*1600. DVI port 1 only gives 1280×800 – but looks fine.

Tried SwitchResX to force resolution of 2560*1600 – but didn’t work.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for making the 4870×2 work in 10.6.6!
