Upgraded from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3. But now I have trouble booting the system with AHCI mode. I had to switch from AHCI to IDE mode, to boot into os x.
I get this error message during the boot:
13AppleAHCIPort is not compatible with its superclass, 10IOAHCIPort superclass changed?
Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort.
Couldn’t alloc class “AppleAHCI”
hi all, who don’t have working QE/CI on nvidia cards after 10.5.3 update. Here are the steps how to get it working back:
sudo -s
[type your password]
rm -fr /System/Library/Extensions/NV*
rm -fr /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce*
rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
reboot your PC and boot with flag -f
then install nvinject and do these steps again
sudo -s
[password]
rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
reboot your PC and boot with flag -f
Upgrade succeeded from Kalway 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 using your guide. Except for one (1) problem: Keyboard no longer works… what could be the reason?
Keyboard works before MacOSX gui.. when it says “press any key” during booting… I am able to enter -v or any command… but when MacOSX gui loads my keyboard no longer works… any solution please? THANKS!
I lost my CI/QE ont he 10.5.3 update (EVGA nVidia 7800GT). I was reading your suggestion as to how to fix it, and am confused… How does deleting all the GeForce and NV kexts (that you kinda need to drive the card) fix the problem? Am I missing something?
For the record I tried two ways to repair.
1) I tried your instructions, and ended up without a graphics driver and no res change (which I kind of expected).
2) I reverted to the 10.5.2 kexts, which got me CI/QE, but also got me a problem with the menu bar drop downs being unreadable.
Nevermind, I think I figured it out — I was replacing NVinject.kext by hand, when what Peter suggested was probably installing NVinstallerV.41.pkg, which has the 10.5.2 replacements for the NV and GeForce layer. In another thread, it was pointed out that the package will not overwrite the newer kexts, hence the removal advice. Looking over NVinstallerV.41.pkg, it appears that my menu bar issues where due to not replacing enough ot the OpenGL/GeForce/NV kexts and frameworks.
I need some help. I’ve got a Q6600 cpu booting using EVI v8 and 10.5.3 and Netkas AppleSMBIOS.kext. i want to overclock with 8 x 400 for 3.2 GHz and 2x memory multiplier for 800Mhz DDR2. This works fine, but is detected as 2.13ghz and 1.07 Bus speed in About Mac and other utils like Geekbench. Benchmarks are definatley slower and i don’t know whats going on. I boot into my bios and it shows everything set correctly. i boot into Windows and I show correct 3.2GHz. Advice welcome.
Hi!
Anyone tried this? I’ll be interested if it supported my future Nvidia 9600Gt graphic card.
Thanks
afaik it doesn’t support 9600 GT.
Tanks for the info .. when the new kernel will show-up ?
Can I update from 10.5.2 (toh Kernel)?

After update to 10.5.3 my nvidia 8600 doesn’t work with HW accelerated QE/CI 🙁 – used nviject 0.2.1
Does anybody know how to resolve this?
After the update, I got the same whitemenu error on my Ati Raden HD 3850(Diamond)… This time the fix does not seems to work…
Any Idea?

Thanks Peter your I have managed to get my QE/CI to work on my NVIDIA 8400 GS
Thanks to everyone for the guide
somebody on the insanelymac found the fix for the AHCI issue: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=107985
A detailed set of instructions how to perform the update may be found on our site: http://news.metaparadigma.de/?p=274
OS X works like a charm – with the hardware that you support, netkas. Thanks for all your efforts!!!

I’m back to having a system that doesn’t sleep or reboot properly. On the plus side, I can now see all disks on my SATA controller.

PS/2 doesn’t work after this upgrade…
Try to boot with -s mode mith 10.5.2 kernel still have
same result.
Any idea?
banjoo… this is a guess, but you might try replacing the following with the 10.5.2 versions:
ACPIPS2Nub.kext
ApplePS2Controller.kext
That failing, at least a USB keyboard and mouse can be had for less than $30 😉
Good Luck!
