    June 14th, 2008 | 11:13 am

No. Take a look at Windows. Windows 64Bit needs 64Bit Drivers. The same thing with Linux I guess.
Maybe XNU is in many cases different.

    Hi,

    Great job…

I’ve no idea how hard it was to bring snow leopard to a Pc.

So, I guess that for me the most impressive thing is that you have already Snow Leopard.

We can not find it anywhere on the web (torrent, p2p,…), and I don’t know why you’re refusing to communicate how you get it.

It would be great if you could give us a clue.

    Anyway… Congrats.

    Hephem

nice work – but a developer release won´t shoot me out off my shoes at this time ;-) … but be sure to have my respect !

Maybe you find me stupid but i bought a macpro 2.8 8-core after running leopard with efi8 on a pc for a couple of months and there really is a big difference in use. (not even talking about properly working sleep, shutdown and scheduled power on/off)

Of course it’s kicking to get it all working on a pc but the smallest issue might break it. I am using it for making music and i wanted reliability.

For me it really was “try before buy” with hackintosh, for that i want to thank you Netkas !

I did make some friends happy with a hackintosh machine.
With my osx86-knowledge acquired from netkas.

No more forced to using windows only. That’s a relief !

I can’t wait for snow leopard with this 8-core…….

  37. June 16th, 2008 | 3:41 pm

    Hi netkas, thanks -

    Any details? What about AMD?

Netkas, is there a way to get Snow Leopard booting for us? I’ve tried the 9.2 netkas kernel + EFI 8 and 10 kernel + EFI 8, but it panicks right after the bootloader. (P35 chipset + C2D Q6600)

I don’t really see the benefits of 64-bit computing. Just more memory more hardware. Majority of apps still need to use 32-bit apps along with 64-bit to make things work. I don’t know…

  53. webterractive
    June 20th, 2008 | 3:13 am

I believe it may only be purely for scientific/server applications and not much of a benefit for the regular user. Other then AMD there really isn’t much true 64-bit cpus out there. Core2Dous use EMT64 extensions but really aren’t true 64bit.

  54. June 20th, 2008 | 11:57 pm

sorry buddy but amd’s 64bit code set better than emt64 ;)

  55. June 21st, 2008 | 12:00 am

And 64bit programs can run faster if you coded true i mean its osx not a windows so have a very differents anyway i am waiting answer from netkas about amd ( there is hope ? :D ) cya ;)

    June 29th, 2008 | 10:17 pm

Great news! anyway, what about ToH 9.3.0 kernel for non core™ cpus??

    June 30th, 2008 | 11:14 am

    hi Netkas,

that is an awesome advance, congratulations !!

Will you also compile the 9.3 kernel sources? I am still running your 9.2 speedstep kernel, which is 100% stable!! Your modds and compiles have always been the best – it would be a real winner if you also compiled a 9.3 speedstep kernel :)

What do you think? Have you made a diff about what Apple changed?

    Chers,
    Bugs
