Upgrading 2009 MacPro to 2010 MacPro

A user of our forum has released an app to upgrade 2009 MacPro with firmware of 2010 MacPro, allowing 2009 MacPro to support hex-core cpus.
It also allows downgrade back to 2009 MP’s fw.

You can find it here

The app has no Apple’s code inside and does all manipulations with fw files on your computer.

When my computer has the 4,1 firmware, I can see my Windows 7 partion for bootcamp. When I changed the firmware to 5,1, the Windows 7 partition disappears from my desktop. Wassup with that?

I assume that Lion has had no effect on this process. Just got a great deal on a W3680 Westmere and thought to wake this 4,1 Macpro up.

Don’t know if anyone is still following this thread but anyway. Your hack worked beautifully, running a Westmere 6 core in what used to be a MacPro 4,1. No problems, very fast. A score of more than 14000 on Geekbench 64bit. Thanks!

After upgrading my MacPro with this app, I finally changed the cpu from a W3520 to a Xeon W3680 bought at ebay (aprox. 400€). It was very easy because the LGA 1366 socket has a lever to fix the processor and the original cpu has the same heatspreader as the new Xeon. The speed boost is evident in Cinema 4d and all other programs utilizing all cores.

Where can I download this firmware update app?
    Is it on RapidShare?
I can’t see any files on fileserver listing.
