A note about new macs (imac and macpro)

We got it.

New macs with new graphics cards (as expected) and new cpu.

but, is it realy new ?

GT120 which can be found in macpro and imac is rebranded(renamed) 9500GT (g96)

GT130 is rebranded(renamed) 9600GT(g94)

4870 for MacPro has one DVI and one displayport connections (doesnt sound good for hackintoshers)

4850 for iMac….. this leaves some hopes for good display detection in new drivers πŸ™‚

Lets hunting for atindrv.kext and ioreg dump(ioreg -l -w0 > dump.txt) begin !

I recently got a Dell Precision M4400 notebook which has a 9600M GT, and it has a Display Port connector and a VGA out connection. Got the VGA out working with a modified NVkush no idea if the Display port works

Also remember that these machines are most likely not even in the store’s yet. They are taking orders for them and they will be sent out when the polish 10.5.7

Indeed this must be the issue with the current drivers too. Only 1 DVI port working. Big time bummer. If anyone can fix it it would be you netkas. Get a 4870 please πŸ™‚

Wouldnt Vanilla 10.5.7 have the right kexts for the 4850??

Is the mac using normal 4850s?

    Taken from http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB999ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=NDE4NDMxOA#overview

    “Compatibility:

    * Requires Mac Pro (Early 2009 with 1066MHz DDR3 memory) or Mac Pro (Early 2008 with 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM memory) with PCI Express 2.0 slot
    * Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later”

    Shouldn’t be v10.5.7 or later?

Yeah Netkas can we without any modification?

@a|e§: Apple says they will ship it in 5-7weeks, so there will be a patch or 10.5.7 at that time.

I’am also interested in the answer. It would be great if we could use the led cinema display with our hackintoshs (and macbook) and it seems that the only way to do so, is to have a videocard with minidisplay port (gt120 gt130 or the expensive 4870 for mac).

Is incredible, that apple could release a mac pro with that CR*P graphic cards, with this high cost. This are low level cards…
I hope that nobody buy this sh*t.
