64-bit efi rom for 6870

We’ve done it again, 64-bit efi rom for 6870 for MacPro3,1 and later.

It gives boot screen !

head over to this thread for more info – link

In short, what works: any connection on upper ports(4 ports in line), any allowed combination of them(max 2 legacy (dvi/hdmi, 1 vga)) connections – dl-dvi on dvi port, sl-dvi on hdmi/dvi/mdp(with passive adapters), vga on dvi port with adapter, hdmi on hdmi port. Mdp ports work fine with active adapters or native DP displays. Lower DVI doesnt work at all.

Maximum – 4 screens. For example, if you use active adapters, it can be 3 dl-dvi displays and one sl-dvi.

Bootscreen appears if only one dvi display connected to upper dvi connector (single or dual link).

Steam/dvd player work fine.

“Mdp ports work fine with active adapters or native DP displays.”

Does that mean that mDP ports don’t work as regular mDP?

    ///no, it works.

So if I have a Mac Pro 4,1, can I upgrade to the 6870 without flashing it? Are there any adapters I need to use to actually hook up the card?

I’m trying to get this efi for an 6870 I just buy today!
Where is the download please, I’m looking everywhere, I don’t understand!
Sorry, I’m french, it’s uneasy to really get the things when you are not a big technical man 🙂

Well, that guy selling on eBay is an idiot el grande. Setting aside the questionable practice of selling this stuff, he’s doing it as soon as the cards come out. There could be bugs and caveats yet to be discovered with this, but he’s selling them anyway and could face some nasty backlash.

As yvoman said. I’m a bit obliviouse about where to actually download the efi rom from.

Of course, i checked the link to the forum, but to be honest – that just adds to my confusion.

Could someone please link directly to the rom we need?

Just want to say a very big thank you to netkas and all the other guys that made it possible to stick a bog-standard PC XFX HD6870 card in a MacPro 3.1 and get it working right!!

I’d never flashed a video card before, just cheap generic peripherals, so I was fairly nervous; but it proved to be painless. Excellent!

It’s a bit late now, but tomorrow will be a day of interesting exploration to see what this little beauty is capable of…
