Parallels 7 won’t launch lion guest on hackintosh.
to fix it run this command
sudo nvram 8BE4DF61-93CA-11d2-AA0D-00E098032B8C:BootCurrent=1
Would this also work for VMWare? I installed using an nvram file that was posted on line (no longer there) (It is reiterated here : http://osxdaily.com/2011/03/07/install-run-mac-os-x-10-7-lion-in-a-virtual-machine-with-vmware/)
While the installation was successful, it declines 10.7.1 update for reasons unknown. Auto update shows no update available. Stand alone installer says can not update. Perhaps related to Apple Store login, etc?

Did I miss something? I’ve been running Lion in VMware Fusion since before Lion was available to the public…
re: updating Lion in vmware –
Software Update is having a gag because you have the ServerVersion.plist file in /S/L/CoreServices in order for vmware to allow you to boot. Software Update thinks you’re running 10.7 Server, which doesn’t actually exist.
VMware needs to fix how they determine if you’re running a virtualizable-OS. Or, just stop enforcing Apple’s EULA…
works great, thank you very much!
Thanks MachineShedFred, that is indeed the answer… I will see if I can mickey mouse a solution…
Looks like changing the name of the file, applying the update, and renaming back to ServerVersion.plist seems to work.
Is there a chance to run in the same way other Mac OS X systems ?
Hello, can running lion on parallels support ci qe?, I really want to try.
I still use osx 10.5.8 because of hd 3870
I’m very impressed – Thats awesome!! 🙂
Thank you very much, though this is a little late, but after struggling with installing a Lion client on a Lion host with Parallel for hours, this is really god send! Great info.
