Hi all,

I have a Mac Pro 2,1 running OS X Mavericks.
I have installed an ATI R9 270x and used the hawaii driver from the forum here.

Now the performance is very poor. For example surfing with safari is already difficult.
Under windows the card runs fine!

Can anyone give me a tutorial about what I should do to get the right card detected and running fine?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thx!

Best "tutorial" is to not use hacked drivers intended to run other cards than you have Smiley

Revert to original kexts, because 270x works OOTB in 10.9 with full acceleration.

Euhm, no it doesn't (I have to use tiamo's boot.efi btw as I have a mac pro 2,1)

When I boot nothing happens with the default kexts, I have to insert another card then to get something on the screen.

(10,9 is mavericks right?)

Are you sure that your card isn't 270 (without "x")? This would explain what you're getting.

I see... This model is at least troublesome. There's quite amount of hassle free cards.

What about 10.10 beta? Does Yosemite support r9 270 (without x)? Maybe you can use this then.

Try installing Vlada's edited kexts. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294315-radeon-r9-270x-framebuffer-issue/
